Advanced Practice Provider - Mission Trails

Department: Advanced Practitioner Department
Location: San Antonio, TX
Position Type: Part-Time Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday only

Job Summary

Advanced Practice Providers, such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants, support Urology San Antonio’s guiding principles of excellent patient care and service, excellent quality of life for partners and employees, and profit with integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Health promotion
  • Disease prevention and problem-based education
  • Developing treatment plans for acute and chronic diseases
  • Educating and guiding patients on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle habits
  • Understanding the changes in health promotion throughout the aging process
  • Conducting exams
  • Performing screening evaluations
  • Performing limited scope procedures such as string stent pulls
  • Managing overall patient care regarding lifestyle and development issues
  • Emphasizing preventative care and disease management
  • Prescribing medications

Advanced Practice Providers also may work with administrative representatives in areas such as:

  • Discussing project recommendations, specifications and procedures.
  • Coordinating and directing clinical projects that include making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of patient care activities.
  • Analyzing various departmental workflow lifecycles for optimal process improvement.
  • Assessing resource needs to present to upper management to assess feasibility of projects.
  • Performing administrative functions based on clinical care guidelines such as reviewing and writing reports or researching and designing clinical care pathways/protocols.
  • Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for newly implemented projects.
  • Partnering with physicians to improve quality and compliance aspects of clinical care.

Qualifications

  • Advanced level degree, most typically at the Master’s level, in his/her respective field.
  • Strong preference for a nurse practitioner or physician assistant with genitourinary or oncology experience.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a team oriented environment with a positive attitude.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in electronic medical record creation and maintenance.
