Maintenance Specialist

Department: Clinic Management Department

JOB SUMMARY

With minimal supervision, the Maintenance Specialist performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks in medical clinics in the San Antonio, Texas area, in HVAC, carpentry, electrical, heating, and plumbing.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Completes regular maintenance tasks and minor repairs such as replacing light fixtures, bulbs, broken locks, damage to walls, etc.
  • Assembles and installs basic office and clinic equipment, including minor wiring repairs.
  • Performs minor maintenance on plumbing systems, including repairing faucet leaks; clears drains using plunger and plumber's snake.
  • Works with contracted vendors to perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that equipment and building systems continue to operate efficiently.
  • Repairs or replaces defective equipment parts and reassemble equipment using hand tools and power tools.
  • Repairs and replaces drywall, paint, doors and door hardware, window blinds, furniture, lamps, handrails, ceiling and floor tiles, baseboard molding strips, etc. 
  • Replaces light switches, ceiling lights, and fluorescent light fixtures.
  • Checks control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues.
  • Removes small rubbish and other debris from the grounds (no landscaping).
  • Inspects and troubleshoots various equipment and systems.
  • Tests the facility's safety systems' functionality (smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, etc.) annually.
  • Collaborates with other workers and professionals during renovations and facility expansions.
  • Applies paint to walls, doors, and various surfaces, to maintain a clean, well-kept appearance in clinics.
  • Cares for and uses materials, supplies, tools, and equipment properly.
  • Provides general maintenance to the heating and air conditioning equipment; operate, monitor, and adjust systems as needed; make minor adjustments and repairs to hot water systems and console heaters; wipe and flush joints; clear drains and sewers of obstructions.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings as necessary.
  • Perform other related maintenance duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES

  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

  • Valid Texas Driver's License and automobile insurance. Must have dependable transportation to travel to multiple USA locations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least three years' experience in general maintenance.
  • General knowledge of maintenance in carpentry, electric, heating and cooling, and plumbing.
  • Proven experience as a maintenance worker or other similar position, preferably in a corporate setting.
  • Meticulous attention to task details.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well independently.
  • Possess strong skills for multitasking, meeting deadlines, prioritizing, and supporting multiple projects.
  • Keen attention to detail and work quality.
  • Adept at creative problem-solving.
